The Museum of Contemporary and Urban Art of Cascais (MARCC) will open his doors to the public in the spring of 2018. This museum is a partnership between Vhils and the City Council of Cascais.

There will be a permanent exhibition, for which Vhils has donated almost 300 works, some of his own and some of other artists such as Abel Manta, one of the pioneers of graffiti in Portugal, Banksy and Shepard Fairy, and four temporary exhibitions per year.

Alexandre Farto (Vhils) always wanted to create a space to promote and celebrate street art and new artists. This will be a space to discuss and reflect about the movement and practises in the public space.

It will be made an investigation and survey about the movement, artists and the history of this kind of art which goes from 1974 until today.

We have to embrace every types of art, we have to support and appreciate the ways that people find to express themselves.

This will be the first museum in Portugal related to urban art and it is wonderful to witness this kind of progress.
