Mellany Sanchez is a streetwear stylist and buyer living in Brooklyn, New York. She studied Visual Communications at NYU and after that she took an internship at Rag & Bone as visual merchandiser intern.

For what I have read about her she is a fighter. She don't wait for things to happen, she makes them happen. She started working at 15, always in the fashion field, and grew her way to the top.

I take a lot of inspiration from her works, she is so creative and her style is so dope that I really believe that in 5 years she will be a huge name on streetwear fashion.

She is very dynamic, I love the way she portares women. It is a very genuine and pure vibe that in the future I would like to transmit in my works. She has a way of evoking the power and beauty of girl culture in a surprising and different way.

She has worked as social media Manager for OAK, a very reputable brand, for NYC streetwear store KITH as creative director and brand marketing and she is now working in VOGUE as visual editor. From time to time she also works for NIKE and has modeled for the Company before.

HOW AMAZING IS SHE?

From what I have read about her, she spends most of her time between the streets, meating people, and the Library. That is something that I have to Start to do. The Library has so many good art books and the thing is, for fashion, you can take inspiration from everywhere, you NEED to take inspiration from everywhere. We also have available all the VOGUE archive and lots of i-D editions. I am ashamed that I haven't take a look at it yet.

I noticed that she takes a lot of inspiration from old issues of magazines (it is possible to notice that in her last post on Instagram) and for old advertisments. She is also highly influenced by Hip-Hop and R&B, which we can tell by her sense of style). Artist like Kanye, Drake and A$AP Rocky are a hit for her.

Fashion is a cycle so she is only being smart.

She is the real deal.
