Maison Margiela is a French fashion house, founded in Paris in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela.

The house produces both haute couture inspired artisanal collections and ready to wear collections.

Margiela's uncompromising approach to its iconic heritage is due to John Galliano (creative director) and his poetic vision, marrying conceptualism with artistry and modern elegance.

Maison Margiela's designs are famous for deconstructionist traits such as exposead seams, being oversized and upcycling garments, he is known for using traditional fabric linings as the outer layers of garments and an old tulle dress worked into several tailored jackets.

He has also made clothes out of plastic carrier bags and wire coat hangers, trouser suits made from upholstery fabrics, tops made with leather gloves and jewelry made of coloured ice so that clothes are dyed as the jewelry melts.

INOVATOR!

Maison Margiela has traditionally held live shows in unusual settings, for example empty metro stations and street corners.

One of the most recognizable piece from Maison Margiela is the Tabi boot. First shown in 1989 and introduced in 1992, this boot is an interpretation of Jika- Tabi, a type of outdoor footwear worn in Japan that separasse the large toe. This was a big trend in 2016.

MM6, the Maison' Margiela contemporary collection for women, last collection was something else.

Margiela's signature are transformed when in silver metallic. Everything from books to chairs and tables was wrapped in silver foil.

The concept? Something classic can be reinvented.

Definitely very futuristic, bold and peculiar.
